Often spring is viewed as the time of year when many people turn their thoughts to decluttering and having a general sort out. Something to do with increased light levels and feeling positive about the forthcoming good weather, I guess.
So, what about autumn? Well to my mind this season is also a good time for tidying and decluttering. My theory is that autumn is about preparation for winter. There's still some good bright days to be enjoyed and hopefully it's not too cold yet.
During the winter we want our homes to be cozy and comfortable. A retreat from the dark and cold of the outside world. Somewhere to retreat to, where we can sit infront of the fire.
Well, if your home is full of clutter, chances are that it's not as cozy as you would like. Maybe during the summer months you've avoided the issue by spending as much time outside as you possibly can. Why not take advantage of the autumn sunshine to get decluttering? If you tackle your decluttering project now then you'll have a lovely clutter-free, cozy home in time for the winter. Don't leave it until the weather turns nasty and you're forced to spend time in that cluttered room.
Picture the pleasant walk or drive to your local charity shop - what's stopping you?

It's a great time to have a good sort through in the garden shed as well. Clean all the tools and treat the garden furniture so everything is ready for use next Spring.
Great idea - and with the lovely weather we're having, it's a good excuse to enjoy the sunshine!
